Mixing
Rates vary depending on the complexity of the tracks.
Contact me at tw@twwalsh.com to discuss your project.
Please check out my gear page for information on how my studio is equipped, and my discography for a look at what I’ve worked on.
I use a combination of digital in-the-box techniques and outboard gear. I can bring your drum tracks back to life and add excitement, balance and depth to your recordings. Mixing is a crucial step in the process…if you’re recording at home, let someone with experience mix!
Preparing Your Files
I don’t work in Pro Tools so I can’t accept Pro Tools session files directly. You just need to export/bounce the tracks individually. I require WAV or AIFF files for a project - one WAV or AIFF file for each track in a song. All of the files need to start right at 0:00, so you need to “bounce” them this way. If your vocals come in 31 seconds into the song, there needs to be 31 seconds of silence at the beginning of the vocal track file. This way I can import each track file and drag them to the beginning of the time line and everything will line up correctly. Please turn off all plugins or effects before the bounce. If there is a plugin you can’t live without, send 2 versions of that track - one with plugins and one without. If a click track was used, please indicate the tempo. If you’d like me to tune vocals or edit drums and other tracks, we’ll need to discuss how this will affect the mixing budget. I can accept 24 or 16 bit files at any sampling rate. I usually prefer working at 44.1 kHz or 88.2 kHz, but I have a high-quality SRC so I can accept a variety of sampling rates.
